
PEDRO CASTRORTEGA
BIOGRAPHY
Pedro Castrortega was born in Piedrabuena (Ciudad Real) in 1956, and he currently lives and works in Madrid. He graduated in Fine Arts at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. He was granted a Fulbright Scholarship in New York where he lived and worked between 1985 and 1987. He also was awarded a scholarship by the Cité Internationale des Arts of Paris.
In the last years he has worked between Berlin and Madrid. He has had a great number of exhibitions in various galleries in Spain, Germany, France, Portugal, USA and Switzerland. He has received several international awards and has participated in important fairs like Art Basel, ARCO, Art Chicago and Art Köln. Currently he is focused on drawing, installation, sculpture, painting, graphic work and artist’s book. His work aims for a continuous search of human being as a universe, construction and destruction, where metaphysics and basic concepts come together in the same desired space.
